What to Expect
Porcelain Veneers
Thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of your teeth can transform your smile in two main appointments. You see the result before any preparation begins.
Porcelain veneers are custom-crafted shells that cover the front surface of teeth to change their color, shape, size, or length. They are the most versatile cosmetic dental option for transforming a smile in a short timeline.
Veneer preparation is permanent — a small amount of enamel is removed and cannot be replaced. This is why Dr. Steven's digital smile preview process is so important: you approve the final look before any irreversible step is taken.
Your Appointments, Step by Step
Consultation + Smile Design
45–60 minDr. Steven evaluates your teeth, gums, bite, and facial proportions. A Digital Smile Preview is created — you see what your new smile will look like before any preparation begins. This is your opportunity to refine the shape, length, and shade. The preparation appointment is only scheduled once you are satisfied with the preview. There is no pressure and no commitment at this stage.
Preparation + Temporaries
90–120 minA small, controlled amount of enamel is removed from the front surface of each tooth to create room for the veneer. This is permanent and requires careful planning — which is why the Digital Smile Preview step matters. A digital scan is taken and custom temporaries are placed the same day so you leave with an immediately improved smile. The temporaries mimic the shape and length of your final veneers, allowing you to experience the new look and provide feedback before the final ceramics are made.
Veneer Delivery
90–120 minThe temporaries are removed. Each porcelain veneer is tried on individually for fit, shade, and bite before bonding. Dr. Steven walks you through each one — you have the opportunity to request adjustments before they are permanently cemented. Once approved, the veneers are bonded to your teeth using a high-strength dental adhesive. The results are polished and the bite is refined. Most patients are genuinely moved seeing the final result.
Comfort Check (if needed)
10–15 minIf the bite feels slightly off or there is an edge that needs minor refinement, a brief follow-up corrects it. Most patients do not need this step.
What to Know Before You Start
- Veneer preparation is irreversible — make sure you have seen and approved the Digital Smile Preview before the prep appointment
- You will have temporaries between your preparation and delivery appointments — avoid biting directly into hard foods on that side
- If you grind or clench at night, a custom night guard is essential to protect your investment
- Veneers do not whiten with bleaching treatments — if you want whiter teeth, discuss whitening before veneer placement
- After final placement, use a non-abrasive toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to keep your veneers looking their best
